The setting I chose for my movement piece was the window nook in my dorm room. I chose a tight, indoor space in order to show the confinement the consequences of economic inequality has led to in our society. I want to portray the trapped feeling that those in these positions are forced to face; They are imprisoned by our economic society. Those living in poverty have little opportunity to move up the ladder of wealth. They are not offered the same opportunities to thrive as those who are in the higher percentiles of wealth in our country. Often, they are stuck in the same place, unable to move and find better lives for themselves. They become more susceptible to health issues, social problems, and a lower level of happiness compared to those who receive higher income and pay. The wealth distribution is confining, as are most inequalities that exist in our society, and that is what I hope for the viewers to see through this piece and the location I chose. I have included a picture of my location below.
